RGYC Cruising Group – 2019 Musters and activity.
The 2019 cruising season will largely follow the tried and tested format of previous seasons.  Hopefully the weather this season will be as kind as last year and all planned musters will take place as planned.  To try and take advantage of the usually good weather window early in the season there will be four musters this season.
The planned dates for the musters are:
  • 27th/28th April
  • 15th/16th June
  • 3rd/4th August
  • 21st/22nd September
Previous seasons have seen us mustering at Portavadie, Holy Loch and Port Bannatyne where we have traditionally held our last muster as the Port Inn is a popular venue for the group.  Members have also suggested Lochgoilhead, Rothesay and Colintraive as possible options for this year too.
The musters are a relaxed and casual affair with boats joining from both RGYC moorings and also marina berths.  We have been well supported with most venues offering discounted rates for RGYC members attending the musters.  Whenever possible and weather permitting we look to try and include an option for a BBQ and a suitable shore based venue for beverages and dining.  The group is a friendly one with always one boat offering to host pre dinner drinks and another for that essential nightcap.
Final arrangements and confirmation of details for each muster is done by email and there is also an RGYC Cruising Group Facebook page where this is repeated.  However dates and details are also forwarded to the RGYC Office to be broadcast to all members in both the RGYC newsletter and Facebook Page.
This season there has already been facebook posts from some owners seeking to cruise in company on an ad hoc basis in addition to the musters.  If you don’t have a boat there can also be opportunities as there are owners with spare berths on musters and also those looking for an extra pair of hands during the season.  So come along and try cruising and enjoy the good company in what is a friendly, relaxed and sociable gathering, you will be made very welcome.
